Old Made New

Church + Mission youth volunteer to paint monuments in Mission Terrace.

On the outskirts of San Francisco, one can find a friendly community that shares the same intimate vibe as its neighbors. Mission Terrace is known to be quiet with colorful homes, sunny streets and a variety of local shops.

Within the last couple of years, residents in Mission Terrace have complained about the deteriorating monuments. These monuments were a way to entice people to move to the neighborhood, however due to years of neglect they have become an eyesore. These youth groups have scraped old paint, power washed, primed and painted the monuments, giving the neighborhood a nice face lift.

Church + Mission’s Urban Exchange program hosts youth groups from around the Bay Area to give back by conducting various service projects including residential neighborhoods in San Francisco.
